Are you an experienced Payroll professional looking for a senior role where you can take ownership, lead a team, and work within a highly respected accountancy firm?
Our client, one of the leading and most established firms in the Oxford area, is seeking a highly experienced Payroll Manager to take responsibility for the smooth running of a busy payroll department and lead a small, dedicated payroll team.

The Role
As Payroll Manager, you will oversee the delivery of multiple client payrolls, managing a significant portfolio across both weekly and monthly payroll schedules. You will play a key role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across the department while supporting and developing your team.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a varied portfolio of payroll clients
- Running weekly and monthly payrolls with high volumes
- Supervising and supporting a small payroll team
- Reviewing payroll processes and ensuring deadlines are consistently met
- Ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations and payroll legislation
- Handling payroll queries and resolving escalated issues efficiently
- Supporting continuous improvement within the payroll function
- Building strong internal and client relationships
The Ideal Candidate
This role will suit someone who is confident leading from the front and has a strong track record within payroll.
You will ideally have:
- Extensive experience in payroll within a bureau, practice or multi-client environment
- Proven ability to manage weekly and monthly payrolls at volume
- Strong technical payroll knowledge and attention to detail
- Experience supervising, managing, or mentoring payroll staff
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- A professional approach and commitment to delivering outstanding service
