Audit Senior

This is an excellent opportunity for an Audit Senior to join a respected and expanding accountancy practice in Newcastle. You’ll be part of a collaborative audit team, working with clients across multiple sectors and developing your technical and leadership skills in a supportive environment.

The Role

As Audit Senior, you’ll play a key role in planning, leading, and delivering high-quality audits. You’ll manage on-site teams, liaise with clients directly, and ensure that assignments are completed efficiently and to a high standard.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading audit fieldwork from planning through to completion
  • Preparing financial statements in line with UK GAAP and other relevant standards
  • Reviewing work completed by junior team members, offering feedback and coaching
  • Managing client relationships and ensuring excellent communication throughout the audit process
  • Ensuring all audits are compliant with ISAs and internal quality standards
  • Identifying risk areas and making recommendations for process improvements
  • Working closely with managers and partners to deliver excellent client service
  • Supporting and mentoring trainees as they progress through their professional qualifications
  • Keeping up to date with technical and regulatory changes in auditing and financial reporting

About You

You’ll be a motivated and technically capable auditor with a keen eye for detail and a client-first approach.

You will:

  • Be ACA or ACCA qualified (or part-qualified), with relevant experience in a UK accountancy practice.
  • Have a strong understanding of UK auditing standards and financial reporting.
  • Be experienced in leading or supervising audits across a range of industries.
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to liaise directly with clients.
  • Be organised and capable of managing multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Enjoy working collaboratively within a supportive team environment.
  • Have experience mentoring or supporting junior team members.
  • Demonstrate commercial awareness and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Experience using modern audit software such as CCH or CaseWare would be beneficial.
