Audit & Accounts Manager

This is an excellent opportunity for an Audit & Accounts Manager to join a forward-thinking practice in Oxfordshire. You’ll play a key role in managing client relationships, overseeing complex assignments, and driving team performance within a supportive and collaborative environment.
The Role
As Audit & Accounts Manager, you’ll be responsible for leading audit assignments, reviewing accounts, and providing strategic advice to clients across a wide range of industries. You’ll manage a portfolio of owner-managed businesses, SMEs, and corporate clients, while mentoring junior staff and contributing to the continued success of the firm.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing a portfolio of audit and accounts clients, ensuring high-quality service delivery
- Leading audit assignments from planning to completion, including risk assessment, testing, and final reporting
- Reviewing financial statements, management accounts, and corporation tax computations
- Acting as the main point of contact for clients, building and maintaining long-term relationships
- Supervising, coaching, and developing team members to support their progression
- Managing workflow, budgets, and deadlines effectively across multiple engagements
- Working closely with partners on business advisory, planning, and technical matters
- Identifying opportunities for added value, cross-selling, and process improvements
- Keeping up to date with changes in accounting and auditing standards
About You
You’ll be a motivated and technically strong professional who thrives in a client-facing leadership role.
You will:
- Be ACA or ACCA qualified with significant post-qualification experience in audit and accounts
- Have experience managing a portfolio of clients within a UK accountancy practice
- Be confident leading audits and reviewing the work of others
- Have excellent technical knowledge of UK GAAP and auditing standards
- Be a strong communicator with excellent interpersonal and team leadership skills
- Have the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines effectively
- Be commercially aware, proactive, and passionate about delivering exceptional client service
Experience with cloud-based accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or CaseWare would be advantageous.
