Tax Assistant Manager

The Role

As Assistant Tax Manager, you’ll take responsibility for managing your own client portfolio while also supporting managers and partners on more complex work. You’ll have the chance to get involved in both compliance and advisory projects, providing plenty of variety.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a portfolio of personal and/or corporate tax clients.
  • Preparing and reviewing tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legislation.
  • Assisting with tax planning and advisory assignments, such as restructuring, remuneration planning, or succession planning.
  • Liaising with HMRC and resolving client queries.
  • Building and maintaining long-term client relationships.
  • Reviewing the work of junior team members and providing feedback and mentoring.
  • Supporting managers and partners with technical and client-facing projects.
  • Ensuring deadlines are met and maintaining high-quality service delivery.

About You

The successful candidate will:

  • Be ACA/ACCA and/or ATT/CTA qualified (or working toward) with strong tax experience in practice.
  • Have solid compliance experience, ideally across both personal and corporate tax.
  • Ideally have some exposure to advisory assignments (though not essential).
  • Be confident in managing client relationships directly.
  • Have strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Enjoy mentoring and supporting junior colleagues.
  • Be proactive, motivated, and keen to continue progressing in their career.
