Audit Manager
Are you an experienced audit professional ready to step into a management role with real autonomy and client ownership?
Do you want to lead audit engagements, manage relationships and develop a team within a supportive and forward-thinking practice?
This is an excellent opportunity for an Audit Manager to join a well-established accountancy firm based in Stoke-on-Trent. You’ll manage a varied audit portfolio, oversee end-to-end engagements and play a key role in mentoring and developing junior colleagues.
The Role
As Audit Manager, you’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality audit work from planning through to completion, ensuring both technical excellence and outstanding client service.
- Managing a portfolio of audit clients across a range of sectors
- Leading audits from planning and risk assessment through to completion and file sign-off
- Preparing audit strategies, budgets and resource plans, ensuring work is delivered efficiently
- Reviewing audit files, working papers and statutory accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Acting as the main point of contact for clients, handling queries and providing practical, commercial advice
- Managing and developing Audit Seniors, Semi Seniors and trainees through coaching and on-the-job support
- Monitoring deadlines, team workflow and engagement profitability
- Identifying and escalating technical issues, ensuring appropriate resolutions and documentation
- Supporting senior leadership with tenders, proposals and business development activities
- Contributing to continuous improvement across audit processes and methodology
About You
You’ll be a confident, technically strong audit professional with proven leadership and client-handling skills.
You will:
- Be ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
- Have significant external audit experience within a UK accountancy practice
- Be confident managing audit assignments end-to-end and leading teams
- Possess strong technical knowledge of auditing standards and UK GAAP / FRS 102
- Have experience reviewing work, managing budgets and supervising staff
- Be highly organised and comfortable handling multiple client deadlines
- Demonstrate excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Be proactive, commercially minded and keen to progress further
