Audit Director

This is an excellent opportunity for an Audit Director to join a forward-thinking and well-established firm in Boston. You’ll oversee high-quality audit work, mentor team members, and play an integral part in the strategic development and growth of the audit function.

The Role

As Audit Director, you will take a leading role in audit delivery, operational management, and strategic decision-making.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading end-to-end audit engagements, ensuring high technical quality and compliance
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to key clients, delivering commercial insights and strategic recommendations
  • Managing and developing audit managers, seniors, and trainees across the team
  • Ensuring effective resource planning, workflow management, and departmental performance
  • Supporting senior leadership with business development, tender presentations, and proposals
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives, technical excellence, and best practice processes
  • Contributing to the long-term planning and strategic direction of the audit department
  • Building long-lasting relationships with clients and stakeholders across multiple sectors

This is a senior leadership role with genuine influence across the wider practice.

About You

You’re a technically strong and commercially minded audit professional who thrives in a leadership role.

You will:

  • Be ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with substantial experience leading audits in UK practice
  • Have strong technical knowledge of FRS 102 and auditing standards
  • Possess proven experience managing complex audit portfolios
  • Be an excellent communicator with the ability to build credibility at senior levels
  • Bring strong leadership skills, with a track record of developing and motivating audit teams
  • Be commercially aware, proactive, and comfortable contributing to strategic decisions
  • Demonstrate excellent organisational and project-management skills
