Assistant Tax Manager

This is an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Tax Manager to join a well-established accountancy practice in Huddersfield. You’ll work with a diverse client base, oversee tax compliance, contribute to advisory projects and support the development of junior team members — all within a collaborative and supportive environment.
The Role
As Assistant Tax Manager, you’ll play a key role in the delivery of tax services across both compliance and advisory work.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing a portfolio of personal and business tax clients.
- Reviewing self-assessment tax returns, partnership returns and trust returns.
- Supporting corporate tax compliance and reviewing computations where required.
- Handling HMRC correspondence, enquiries and disclosures.
- Assisting with advisory projects including capital gains tax, inheritance tax and succession planning.
- Identifying tax planning opportunities and proactively advising clients.
- Supporting and mentoring Tax Seniors and junior team members.
- Managing workflow, deadlines and quality across assigned assignments.
- Keeping up to date with tax legislation and sharing technical knowledge within the team.
- Supporting senior management with technical input and client projects.
This role offers a strong balance between technical work, client interaction and people development.
