Tax Manager

Are you an experienced tax professional with strong expertise in trusts and estates? Do you enjoy a varied role that blends compliance and advisory work, with scope to grow business relationships? Our client, a well-regarded accountancy practice, is seeking a Tax Manager to join their Keighley office.

The Firm

This is a Partner-led chartered accountancy practice based just 30 minutes from Leeds. The firm specialises in supporting SMEs and personal clients, with a reputation for high-quality service and trusted advice. They are also a training firm for ATT, AAT, ACCA, and ACA, committed to developing talent at all levels. Their client base includes businesses with turnovers of up to £40m as well as complex personal portfolios, providing a diverse and rewarding workload.

The Role

This newly created Tax Manager position will focus on trusts, estates, and complex tax matters, while also covering personal tax, capital gains, and non-residential issues. It’s a varied role with a strong compliance and advisory element, and for the right candidate there is scope to become more involved in business development and networking to help grow the firm’s tax offering.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and advising on trusts and estates (core focus of the role).
  • Handling a portfolio that includes personal tax, capital gains, and non-residential tax.
  • Reviewing and supporting compliance work, ensuring technical accuracy.
  • Advising clients on tax planning opportunities and complex matters.
  • Developing strong client relationships and acting as a trusted adviser.
  • Supporting business development and networking activities where appropriate.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven expertise in trusts (essential).
  • Broader exposure to capital gains, personal tax, and non-residential tax.
  • A strong background in either compliance or advisory work (or both).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commercial and proactive approach, with an interest in client development.
