We’re recruiting for an experienced Senior Accountant to join a well-established accountancy practice based in Wirral. As a Senior Accountant, you’ll take ownership of your work, producing and finalising accounts, managing client queries, and calculating corporation tax. The role also includes providing occasional payroll support using Sage software.

You’ll be working with CCH software for accounts and tax returns and liaising directly with clients to resolve queries efficiently. This is an autonomous position where you’ll prepare and release accounts, reviewed by one of the partners before finalisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation of statutory accounts for a varied portfolio of clients
• Calculation of corporation tax liabilities and submission of returns
• Direct liaison with clients to handle queries and provide updates
• Provide payroll backup support using Sage software as required
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and deadlines
• Work independently to deliver high-quality outputs, while liaising with partners for final review

About You

Experience: At least 3–5 years in a UK accountancy practice.

Qualifications: ACA/ACCA qualified, part-qualified or QBE (study support can be provided if required).

Technical Skills: Proficient with CCH accounts and tax return software; Sage payroll experience is advantageous.

Soft Skills:

• Excellent organisational and time management abilities
• Strong communication skills for client interaction
• Confident in working autonomously with minimal supervision
