Senior Accountant

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accountant to join a well-established firm in Maldon. You’ll be part of a progressive and collaborative team that takes pride in delivering expert financial advice with a personal touch.
The Role
As Senior Accountant, you’ll play a key role in managing a varied client portfolio, providing high-quality compliance and advisory support. You’ll take ownership of client relationships, oversee work across the team, and contribute to the ongoing success and development of the practice.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing statutory accounts and corporation tax returns for a range of clients, including SMEs, partnerships, and limited companies.
- Managing client relationships and acting as a trusted adviser on accounting, tax, and business matters.
- Reviewing and commenting on management accounts and financial reporting packs.
- Assisting with audit assignments, tax planning, VAT returns, and wider business advisory projects.
- Keeping up to date with accounting standards, regulations, and tax legislation to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for clients.
- Supporting, mentoring, and developing junior team members.
- Identifying opportunities to improve internal processes and enhance client service delivery.
About You
The ideal candidate will be an ambitious and commercially minded accountant who enjoys variety, client contact, and responsibility.
You will:
- Be ACA or ACCA qualified, with experience working in an accountancy practice.
- Have strong technical knowledge of UK accounting standards and tax compliance.
- Be confident in preparing and reviewing accounts, management reports, and tax returns.
- Ideally have experience in audit and be interested in working towards RI (Responsible Individual) status.
- Possess excellent communication skills and enjoy building strong client relationships.
- Have an entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
- Be proactive, organised, and keen to contribute to the firm’s continued growth and success.
