The Firm
This is a Partner-led firm of chartered accountants based just 30 minutes from Leeds. With a team known for their approachable style and technical expertise, the firm specialises in providing tailored services to SMEs and personal clients. They also act as a training practice for ATT, AAT, ACCA, and ACA, reflecting their commitment to developing people at every stage of their careers. Their portfolio includes businesses with turnovers ranging up to £40m, offering staff exposure to both smaller clients and more complex assignments.
The Role
As a Senior Accountant, you will manage a varied client portfolio with a strong SME focus. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality accounts and tax services while acting as a trusted advisor to business owners and directors. This is a client-facing role with scope for involvement in wider advisory and business development opportunities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for a portfolio of SME clients.
- Preparing management accounts and providing commercial insight to support decision-making.
- Reviewing corporation tax and personal tax computations.
- Liaising with clients directly, building and maintaining trusted relationships.
- Supervising, mentoring, and reviewing the work of junior staff.
- Supporting partners with ad hoc advisory projects.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
- ACA/ACCA qualification (or be QBE with significant practice experience).
- Strong background in working with SMEs across a range of sectors.
- Excellent technical knowledge of accounts preparation and tax compliance.
- Strong communication and client management skills.
- A commercial mindset, able to provide practical business-focused advice.
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior team members.
