Tax Senior

This is an excellent opportunity for a Personal Tax Senior to join a respected and growing accountancy practice in Manchester. You’ll take ownership of a diverse portfolio of clients, deliver high-quality tax compliance and advisory services, and play a key role within a friendly and collaborative team.
The Role
As Personal Tax Senior, you’ll be responsible for managing personal tax compliance for a wide range of clients — from business owners and company directors to high-net-worth individuals and families. You’ll also support advisory projects and assist senior team members on complex tax matters.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and reviewing self-assessment tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and trusts
- Managing your own portfolio of clients, ensuring all deadlines are met
- Dealing with HMRC correspondence and resolving queries promptly
- Assisting with tax planning work, including capital gains, inheritance tax, and residency issues
- Supporting senior team members with advisory assignments
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of tax legislation and contributing to process improvements
- Building long-term relationships with clients and providing excellent service
About You
You’ll be a motivated and detail-oriented tax professional who enjoys client interaction, solving problems, and delivering a high standard of work.
You will:
- Be ATT qualified, part-qualified, or QBE, with progression to CTA encouraged (study support provided)
- Have experience in personal tax compliance within a UK accountancy practice
- Possess strong technical knowledge of income tax, capital gains, and related personal tax matters
- Be confident managing your own client portfolio and meeting deadlines
- Demonstrate excellent communication, organisation, and relationship management skills
- Be proactive, accurate, and committed to delivering outstanding client service
- Have experience using tax software such as CCH, IRIS, or similar systems
- Have a genuine desire to succeed — not just through qualifications, but by continually developing your knowledge, skills, and client relationships
