As a Bookkeeper, you will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records for a range of clients across different sectors. With a strong emphasis on autonomy, you’ll be expected to manage your workload effectively, ensuring deadlines are met while providing excellent service to clients.
You’ll also act as a vital point of contact for VAT-related queries and will use your expertise to support both the firm and its clients with their day-to-day financial operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform all aspects of bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Prepare and submit VAT returns across a variety of schemes, including handling complex cases where required
- Maintain and reconcile purchase and sales ledgers, bank accounts, and credit cards
- Liaise with clients to resolve queries and provide advice on financial records where needed
- Work independently to manage your own workload, ensuring client deadlines and firm targets are consistently met
- Use a range of cloud-based accounting systems such as Xero, Sage, and QuickBooks to deliver accurate and efficient results
About You
- Proven experience in a similar bookkeeping role within an accountancy firm or SME environment
- Strong understanding of VAT regulations and reporting requirements
- Confidence in managing your workload autonomously and delivering work to tight deadlines
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
- Strong communication skills for client interaction and teamwork
