Assistant Client Manager 

A forward-thinking and client-focused accountancy firm is looking for an Assistant Client Manager to join their growing team in London.

You’ll be joining a highly supportive and modern firm with an excellent reputation for delivering tailored accounting, tax, and advisory services to a wide variety of clients. As Assistant Client Manager, you’ll gain valuable exposure to complex assignments while developing your leadership and client management skills. You’ll play an important role in supporting a portfolio of clients, working closely with Managers and Partners, and building trusted long-term relationships.

The Role

As Assistant Client Manager, you will:

  • Assist in managing a portfolio of clients across multiple sectors, from start-ups and entrepreneurs to established SMEs and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Prepare and review statutory accounts, management accounts, VAT returns, and tax computations.
  • Liaise directly with clients to handle queries, deliver advice, and provide an exceptional client experience.
  • Support advisory projects, such as restructuring, business planning, profit improvement, and cashflow forecasting.
  • Review and oversee the work of junior colleagues, providing coaching, feedback, and mentoring to support their professional development.
  • Ensure deadlines are met and projects are delivered efficiently, maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance.
  • Work collaboratively with Partners and Managers to support firm-wide initiatives, business development, and continuous improvement.
  • Keep up to date with accounting standards and tax legislation, applying technical knowledge to client work.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will be:

  • ACA/ACCA qualified or part-qualified, with proven experience in a practice environment.
  • Skilled in preparing year-end and management accounts, with a good working knowledge of personal and corporate tax.
  • Familiar with cloud-based accounting systems such as Xero, QuickBooks, or similar.
  • A confident communicator, capable of building long-term client relationships.
  • Commercially aware, with a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for clients and supporting the growth of the firm.
  • Organised and detail-focused, with strong time management skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Ambitious and motivated, with the drive to progress into a full Client Manager role.
