Accounts Junior
Accounts Juniors jobs are found within accountancy firms otherwise known as public practices or accountancy practices.
Accounts Juniors are typically studying towards their professional accountancy exams which are usually sat through the ACCA or ACA. Alternatively, Accounts Juniors sit their AAT examinations before progressing onto their ACCA/ACA studies.
Deciding which professional accountancy examination route to take can be daunting, indeed some Accounts Juniors find themselves changing their professional accountancy exams part way through their studies.
At Public Practice Recruitment Ltd we work with accountancy firms UK-wide and will be able to assist you in finding a new job as an accountant regardless of the examination route you wish to take.
We are actively recruiting for Accounts Juniors in all cities and towns in the UK including Stoke on Trent, Leamington Spa, Coventry, Rugby, Northampton, Milton Keynes, Bedford, Peterborough and Kettering to name but a few.
In many cases Accountancy firms will provide study support or a training contract for their Accounts Juniors to support them through their professional accountancy examinations. The study package can usually be provided to support ACA/ACCA or AAT accountancy exams.
A study support package or accountancy training contract varies from firm to firm in its content. It could include the payment of examinations, time off to study including time off for examinations and resit examinations or even an in-house training team.
Accounts Juniors will, in most cases, undertake a wide range of general accountancy work within a department. This work could range from attending client premises to undertake audit fieldwork to assisting in the planning of an external audit.
Accounts Juniors will also be involved in the preparation of statutory accounts for a diverse range of business entities which could include Limited companies, Sole traders, Partnerships, Limited Liability Partnerships, Not for Profit Organisations, Charities and Academies.
Accounts Juniors will also undertake tax work which could extend to both personal tax and corporate tax compliance work through to tax and advisory work. Depending on the complexity of the tax work the Accounts Junior might be supported by a Tax Manager or Tax Senior Accountant or the work to be undertaken might be passed to a tax department in its entirety.
Generally, Accounts Juniors will support Senior Accountants otherwise known as qualified accountants.
Once an Accounts Junior becomes an exam qualified ACCA, ACA or CA Accountant they may, depending on the accountancy firm they work for, be promoted to a Semi Senior Accountant or Senior level and enjoy more responsibilities and potentially lead some audits from planning to completion as well as reviewing statutory accountants prepared by more junior accountants. Of course, how they have performed in their Accounts Junior job will have a huge impact on any promotion.
Accounts Juniors are often the backbone to the ‘engine room’ of an accountancy firm as it is often they who are undertaking audit fieldwork and accounts preparation for a Senior Accountant, Audit & Accounts Manager or Audit & Accounts Partner to review.
At Public Practice Recruitment Ltd we work with accountancy firms of all sizes UK-wide to assist them in the recruitment of Semi Seniors; Seniors Accountants, Audit & Accounts Managers, Audit & Accounts Partners and Audit RI’s (Responsible Individual).
