Whether you are at the beginning of your career in the accountancy field, in the middle or aiming for the top, it’s good to know what your options are.
The ACCA produced a guide some time ago, which is still relevant today – it provides full information on your career choices within Public Practice Accounting.
First of all, you need to decide whether you are going to follow an Audit, Tax or Advisory pathway. Once you have done this, you can view the career pyramids detailed below.
The Audit Career Pathway
It takes just six years for those surveyed to become an Audit Manager, and Audit Partner can be achieved in ten years plus.
The Tax Career Pathway
Managing Consultant is achieved within seven years on average, and Tax Partner within 12 years – although, this promotion can statistically be achieved quicker within smaller practices according to the ACCA.
The Advisory Career Pathway
Choose the Advisory pathway, and you’ll be looking at Assistant Management within just two years.
If you are looking to escape the average salary of the lower to middle levels of accountancy, why not aim for the top ten best-paid jobs within the field. With varying levels of qualifications required, some with managerial duties and some without, these senior roles have a higher level of responsibility but far higher salaries.
