Corporate Tax Assistant Manager

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Corporate Tax Assistant Manager to join a leading accountancy practice in Leeds. You’ll work with a diverse portfolio of clients across a variety of sectors, taking on a key role within the firm’s tax department and enjoying clear opportunities for progression.
The Role
As Corporate Tax Assistant Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing a portfolio of corporate clients, delivering high-quality compliance and advisory work. You’ll support the Tax Managers and Partners in providing commercially focused tax solutions while developing your own leadership and client management skills.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the delivery of corporate tax compliance services for a varied client base
- Preparing and reviewing corporation tax computations and returns
- Assisting with tax planning and advisory projects, including group structuring, capital allowances, R&D tax relief, and reorganisations
- Liaising with HMRC on behalf of clients and resolving technical queries
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships through regular communication and trusted advice
- Supervising and reviewing the work of junior team members, providing feedback and mentoring
- Supporting senior colleagues in identifying tax-saving opportunities and potential risks
- Keeping up to date with UK tax legislation and regulatory developments
- Assisting in developing and improving internal processes and tax compliance systems
About You
You’ll be a motivated and technically strong tax professional who enjoys working closely with clients and helping them navigate complex corporate tax matters.
You will:
- Be CTA and/or ACA/ACCA qualified (or part-qualified) with relevant experience in corporate tax
- Have experience working within an accountancy practice or specialist tax environment
- Possess strong knowledge of UK corporate tax compliance and advisory work
- Be comfortable managing your own client portfolio and meeting deadlines
- Have excellent communication skills, with the confidence to liaise directly with clients and HMRC
- Be commercially aware, proactive, and keen to identify opportunities for clients
- Enjoy mentoring and developing more junior team members
- Be detail-oriented and able to apply technical tax knowledge pragmatically
Experience in R&D, group structuring, or corporate transactions would be advantageous but not essential.
