Can accountants expect to be happy at work?
Congratulations on making it through 2020. It’s been emotional! We couldn’t have dreamt what this year had in store, and all the things we’ve had to cope with at home and at work. It’s good to take a moment to reflect on that.
And it’s really beneficial for us to look forward too, and think of all the lessons and new skills we’ve learnt which we can take with us into 2021.
One of the things that we’re keen to promote at Public Practice Recruitment Ltd is quite simply…happiness at work. It’s something you might not have placed at the top of your list of criteria before this year. When asked “what do you want from your job?” you may have answered “a decent salary, a company car, career progression, flexible hours.” And while they are all great to have, we think this year has taught us that happiness is key. And that happiness in your career is vital.
Having a career which brings you joy, a work life balance that allows you to do the things which make you feel fulfilled and being able to help others with your talents is no longer just a ‘nice to have’.
If you’re less than happy in your current position, we’d like to offer you a few things to think about. These are just a few of the resources we’ve shared with you in 2020. We’re hoping they will help bring you happiness in your work in 2021.
If you’re an accountant working from home
As we’ve said, you’ve done well to get through this year, even it’s by the skin of your teeth! And if that’s been at a makeshift work space at the kitchen table then so be it. But if you’re heading into the new year with home working being a more permanent set up, perhaps it’s time for a happier space. For a little inspiration take a look at this article on the perfect home office set up for accountants.
