The winter months WILL bring bugs. And illness, time off work, forced isolation and COVID testing will create far more disruption than normal seasonal colds and flu.

There are fears that the change in season could create a second wave of the disease – possibly bigger than the first. While others suggest normality will resume by Christmas. As we are dealing with a relatively new virus, it’s impossible to predict just how catastrophic this could be. 

But one thing is for sure. As a business owner, you need to be prepared. So, what plan can you put in place to ride the potential storm?

As temperatures drop, we wave goodbye to sunshine, ditch the BBQs and head inside, swap remote working in favour of going back into the office and close the doors behind us. All creating a perfect environment for Coronavirus to spread. 

It is estimated that only 5% of people in the UK have been infected so far and although our “new normal” social distancing and handwashing may prevent the spread of bugs – including colds and flu, we cannot rely on this. So, complacency is not an option. 

It’s critical to your business operations – and your bottom line, that you have a strategy in place to continue providing a service to your clients without compromising the health of your workforce.

One of the easiest ways to achieve this is by having interim staff on short term contracts to cover the period of disruption.  

While you continue to function in a really agile way during the winter months, not only do you maintain your high standards and achieve your targets, but you increase the morale of your existing staff who could otherwise feel overworked and overwhelmed.
