5 Reasons to relocate to the South West of England

One of the many positives of remote working is that you can choose to live anywhere you wish – be close to family, live by the sea or save thousands of pounds on a dream property. The world is your oyster. And if you want the best of everything, you can’t get much better than the South West of England.

A place by the sea – Living in the South West means you are never more than a stone’s throw from a beach. From classic British seaside staples to pretty, secluded beaches comparable to the Med – Lands End, Soar Mill Cove, Fox Cove, White Nothe Beach, Hayle and Carne. If a seaside home has always been your dream, then the South West should definitely be on your list of possibles.

Warm weather – The South West has better weather than most of the UK, so there will be plenty of opportunity to head to the beach. It might be why everyone is so happy and friendly! According the Office of National Statistics, people living in Devon and Cornwall are ‘less anxious, feel happier, have a higher level of self-worth and are able to find a better work/life balance.’ All of that gorgeous sun, sand and sea really is good for the soul.

Impressive schools – When they aren’t living the outdoors life, children in the South West are enjoying an incredible education at one of the many great schools here. There are around 100 private schools in the South West with a number in Bristol making the top 10 in the UK. Top state school, Pates Grammar School in Cheltenham is the Sunday Times State Secondary School of 2020.

More for your buck – Compared to the city, you could save thousands on your new home in the South West. A typical detached house in London would set you back a cool million, whereas a similar property in the South West is just £300k. Look at this six bedroom stunner in Clifton, Bristol. Wow! Could you imagine yourself living here? Plus, a great employer would include a relocation package if the position was mainly office-based (as if you’re weren’t sold already?!)

Top place to work – And what about the jobs market here? As lively as it’s location. Particularly for accountants who might be looking for a change in career with an independent practice, or a leap to one of the bigger firms. Take a look at this exciting opportunity for an ambitious Partner Designate. £100k salary, a relocation package and some amazing benefits…sound good?

“We’re looking for someone with an ACA or ACCA qualification and medical accounting experience for a large accounting firm. You should be an excellent communicator and have leadership experience. The client would like a person comfortable with cloud-based accounting and audit systems.”

Garry Howling, Public Practice Recruitment Ltd
